A very sad day for Buellbabe.

Got an email from her this morning with the sad news of her dog Dyna passing away, awhile back i almost lost my Border Collie Mac and she hung in there with me through the worst which was a big help.Just a thread to say myself and plenty of other dog lovers are thinking of ya girl.Things will get a little better with the passing of time, chin up.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

All our beautiful dogs are chasing balls at the rainbow bridge together, including my gorgeous Boxer, Spence. RIP Dyna.

MsKABC, I feel ya pain, I had to put down my Boxer girl Tara of 14 years not so long ago and I cried and cried, I still hear her walking around and see her out of the corner of my eye wanting the last moment, big hole left and only time will fill it.

Buellbabe, best for the future and stand tall, you will have some hard ground to cover yet but time will serve you well.

Again best for the future and my thoughts go with you.
    Cheers Andi & Ellen

Yep, know what it's like. We had to make the awful decision to put our dearly loved labby cross down (aged 12) they day before Father's day.

Broke our hearts but we sat holding him at the vets (sitting on the floor) and stroked his head and kissed him. He was like our 3rd child.

The catch 22 of having a dog. A dilema I struggle with personally.
On one side you just love the critters to bits and they return it ten fold. On the other side they die quicker than even us motorcyclists die and it's heartbreaking.
So long as you cared for it well, gave it your time and a good life..job well done.
ps- I just noticed my avatar has my two favourite past times in it- the bike and the dog

What he said, couldn't have put it better. Sympathies from Ms Piggy & her Poppy dog.

Hi sorry to hear of your loss. I have to say that this quote is beautiful and brought a tear to my eyes for our past dogs. We now have a Chow Chow who is coming 10 and sheltie that is three so will eventually have to go through it all again which is very hard. Vern

    BuellBabe's loss

i am not too sure how to write this.. and i do hope that BB will not get pissed with me for saying this but...

on Wednesday 22nd of September 2009
her beloved dog Dyna lost her battle....

Dyna had been with BB for nearly 13 years...
every time i visited we would take the girls out for walks...

these photos are the last time i was there......

i know how much BB loved her girls and now there is a big emptiness where Dyna was....

my thoughts are with you BB.... HUGS

Sorry to hear about Dyna BB , It is a very hard time as they are such a big part of our lives, Ive been thinking of Trident my beloved Rotty Lab who just about made it 14 , Hes been gone 5 years and i still miss him.
I got him cremated and not long after i went in the lounge and Trident in his Rimu box was missing off the mantle piece. My son(6years then) was outside lying on lawn with Trident in his favourite spot

My thoughts are with you Buellbabe, RIP Dyna

OMG! Thankyou so much everyone. This is totally unexpected. I came into work today bringing with me a beautiful card that the vet sent to me and there was an email from AJ linking to this thread.

Jeez! crying all over again. Last night when I got home my other dog Shar was circling the car looking for her mate, that set me off again but then iI opened up the sympathy cards I had received and found myself smiling through the tears cos Dyna was such a special pooch and she had so many 'aunties & uncles' who adored her plus a grandmother who was always disappointed when I came to visit on the bike cos that meant the 'girls' weren't with me.

AJ, thanks for being such a supportive friend.
BTW AJ actually flew up to Auckland to babysit me on Tuesday. How special is that?

And Mike, your email yesterday was so touching and this thread that you have started is just lovely. careful, carry on like this and you will blow that southern hard-man image LOL.

And again, thankyou all for the kind words. From what you guys say its obvious you are all animal lovers and understand that their short life spans is just something we have to deal with.

    The Rainbow Bridge post...beautiful.

Having Dyna in my life has made me a better person, she got me through some tough times and although we had some titanic battles of will when she was an adolescent our bond was always unbreakable and we could communicate with a look. She was the type of dog who would do whatever I asked of her but if someone else tried to tell her what to do do and it wasn't a 'necessary' thing she would look at me for a nod or shake before she would do it. That used to piss my friends off hahahahaha.

I know she is still hanging around...she always was such an intuitive dog and even now she is trying to comfort me and Shar. I fell asleep on the sofa last night and then woke up cos Shar was whining.
Dyna was standing there looking at me.
Just for a split second but she was definately there.
