I agree - too many of you see the glass as 'half empty' far too often.

But then you ARE Kiwi born....

I suspect that New Zealand is the only country in the world where students come out of University with a regional accent.

Helen Clark has an even worse speaking accent.

Regardless of political view: Foreigners are able to understand what Phil Gough says when he speaks.

Great advertising I reckon. Hopefully plane loads of 'merican tourists will come spend their (declining in value) US dollars here
I googled "John Key" and got Prime minister of New Zealand, recently replacing a bunch of crooks and liars!

Sounds OK to me, don't like National much but they are better than Liabour!

Thought he did OK on Letterman.

True and Key does have nice white teeth. Just how he manages it I don't know being so 'cheesy' and all.

and the UK must be one of the few places where kids are born with many dialects....what is the issue with an "accent"...is it a problem..visit Glasgow and broaden your horizons

Which is odd for a nation of boozers...maybe it's because they drink from tinnies so cannot tell when the tinnie is half full

Exactly. Great to see he has a light hearted sense of humour. Good on him.

He really shoud get a bike licence though. Keep up with Phil on his Triumph... and we could save on those expensive BMW limos. The DPS could follow behind on mufti cop bikes too. Less likely to shunt the PM from behind like they did with Mr H Clark a while back.

So you would prefer a PM to sound posh and not be themselves then...

He seems like a generally nice guy and for a PM pretty humble...conservative Kiwi but prepared to get involved...I am sure he was a bit nervous on the show but agree..good on him...

Sorry. I missed the point of the thread.

You are correct, he did do very well under the limited circumstances.

I suspect that any yanks that were thinking of coming to NZ would not have been put off.
