Rimutaka Hill run to Martinborough (Sun 13 Sept 09)

    Hey everyone,

Just letting you all know we will be crossing the hill today for lunch in Martinb. Everone of every ability welcome, the more the merrier.

Meet up if you're keen at 12:30pm in the gravel carpark at the bottom of the Haywards Hill (Hutt side)

This is definately no race so is suitable for all riders.

    Hope to see you there.

    Ride update

Great ride today, great weather and excellent company....even you AJ!

The ride didn't start particularly well, with StoneY having some technical difficulties courtesy of a rear axle not done up tight after a stint in the shop...which I won't name (but StoneY might!) Lucky I chucked a crescent in my toolkit though and we had it semi serviceable in no time...enough to make it to Quasi's house and fix it properly anyway....Really Quasi, it wasn't just an excuse to come over and drink your beer!

Good to meet up with you guys and thanks Quasi for the hospitality!!

See ya on the road next time...may even be a 300th tag reunion!

Hey Guys, was great to catch up and what a perfect day for riding. AJ and I headed over to Riversdale at 8am, then meet you guys at the top of the hill, then after you all left, rode the twisty way to the Gladdy for a coffee. Chatted with a myriad of other bikers all doing the same thing, then twistied it back home again. Glad you all made it home safely and get your thinking caps on the the 300th catchup

Even AJ?? Holy Hell Batfink! You really are getting hard up for riding partners...
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

Certainly was a great day in the Rapa. My partner and me went to Cape Palliser (in the car). Was absolutely beautiful weather.
Didn't see as many bikes as we thought we would though. Only 2 or 3 passed us over the Taka's and we passed them as they parked up at the top. None between Featherston and Martinborough. There were prolly around 30 - 40 bikes (only guessing) on the square around Toppy's just before midday. On the way to the Cape a couple of HD's came the other way and that was it.
By the time we got back to Martinborough the place was dead.
Not a bike to be seen. That would have been around 4pm. What time does Toppy's close?
The trip back over the hill was a drag. Huge queue of cars. Oh to have been on the bike.
