Oooooer yes yes, Pinot Gris is a yum yum too.

    Disclaimer:
The booze hag like characteristics expressed in this post do not necessarily reflect the true characteristics of the booze hag...I mean author.
See if you can find some Askerne 2007 Gewurtz. Or Johanneshof from Marlborough - any year, its always good. Or go to Vinoptima if you can afford it for one of NZ's best.
Then there are the "real" ones from Alsace. Try Gisselbrecht if you can find it, or Lucien Albrecht, or Gustave Lorentz or Domaine Schlumberger....
The Alsace versions have a different back palate to most of the kiwi versions - more citric, less phenolic, which I prefer. But the variety of style is HUGE!

Incidentally, I have a saying about Pinot Gris. Borrowed from John Cleese when he applied it to American Beer...."It's like making love in a canoe...fucking close to water..."

I think Pinot Gris can be just like that...although there are a few around now that have some flavour...

I,ve taken to the Trout Valley Label of late, particurly the Riesling, Savee Sea 06 sauvignon blank is worth getting, its a side lable for another label, though at the moment cant remeber wich one, Hunters Hill label is a second label to Wolf Blass, worth getting.
Pak n Save Petone has some very good wine buys, worth keeping an eye open while shopping.
I tried the Monteths Cider the other day good fresh flavour, though I thought it was a bit exspensive.

    Dessert wine is goood!

But I have to say I'm a beer gal too, I always find myself having to get up in the night for water after consuming sizable portions of wine

Yes!! Although my brother calls me a peasant, I like sweet bubbles.

Quite a few "posh" wines (with big $ to match) I find too dry, and it's like sipping nail polish remover!

Biggest selling Riesling I have. One of my customers once described it thus..."tastes like summer". I would have to agree.
