Newbie saying hi - nll

I've been exploring this forum for the last few weeks, thought I'd finally introduce myself and say 'hi everyone / what an awesome site!'

I bought a scooter a couple months ago and pretty much immediately decided I *had* to get a motorbike. So..Got my learners a week ago! :-D

So now I'm looking to buy my own bike. Have settled on doing the standard learner route with a gn250, I think... I'm a student so it does work well with my bank account. I've had a try of a gn125 for the basic handling test and felt that type of bike was a good size/weight for me. Plus I'm assuming they will put up with quite a bit of complete 'learner' treatment as well?

I was wondering if anyone has a pdf of the manual? I'd really like to study it a bit before going to look at some bikes. I've spent hours searching the net but can't find any that are in english and also not from the 80s...
(I found the gn250manual.rar link on this forum, but I'm on a mac and can't expand it)

Would really appreciate it if any has a copy they can share or advice on purchasing your first bike

The GN should be cheap to run. Whtever you ride, you will have fun on it.

And thanks for the googling tip. Have expanded the manual - will sneakily print the whole thing off at work tomorrow! Still can't believe that suzuki don't just put them on their website

Welcome to KB, if you are going after a second hand GN, get the one with spoked wheels, against the one on Mags, the earlier spoked wheeled GN was japanes made against the latter Chinese made GN.

Thanks again guys for the welcome. I've roped in my biker flatmate to help me look around next week. In the meantime I've gone into ultra bike geek mode and have a pile of motorbike info books from the library (hate the idea of trusting my life with something without having at least a basic understanding of the mechanics).

And cheers for that tip Pedrostt500. Does anybody happen to know what year they started making them in China? On trademe it seems like most of the ones available are 2004-2007. But I'm guessing the 2004+ gns are chinese..
