Sounds like the metal detectors were not used or working properly, A few inches of blubber and bone shouldn't stop them picking something up, might not have been very much metal to detect in it though. I would have thought the wires poking out of his brown eye would have given it away

Metal detectors don't work on internal explosives as mentioned in the actual "News Story". The BBC is quite a good source of information because they still care about presenting a story rather than a politically biased sound bite.

That is why the security personnel mentioned in the "News Story" are a bit worried.
