    No spark. Help!

so ive got the xl 125 in to the rg it cost a fortune (Metalworks) dont go there. I have hooked up everything going by the diagram that the bike guy gave me that i got the engine off of but cant seem to get a spark. (lol yes bayden dejavous but I havent done anything this time) if someone could help with this it would be awsome as I should be able to get on the track for the next meet. i can bring it out to most places after work if needed.
    cheers

I would like a few pics of your bike as my next project is an FXR150 into an RG250 frame.

I have an RZ350 with a 500cc kit on it in a braced RG250 frame, so if you can't fit a 150 single in there without silly amounts of room you're in trouble.

Just decide where you want the sprocket bearing in mind suspension travel & go for it with a cradle or make new thick engine mounts. the tank may clout the carb, but you can gut the tank, it will be way bigger than required & will likely be rusty inside anyway. Small tank further forward.
Don't you look at my accountant.

I saw a very neat answer to the rusty tank problem by Shellracing at Mt Welly the other day. The bottom of an RG50 tank had been cut out and one of those mini bike/chopper plastic tanks fitted inside. It looked good, still looked like a RG50 tank, but without the leaks and crud in the fuel, very clever idea I thought.

Fish & others had done that in the late 90s. Old suzi tanks [sigh]
My RG had a carbon/kevlar tank so sidestepped the issue. Wonder where that went? Maybe Keith.

seem to have traveled a long way from this poor chap getting a miserable honda single going. How hard can it be? What have you tried? Points engine or later 'not really CDI' type?

Try a CDI out of a chinese copy, may probably work, and be alot cheaper than a honda OEM.

I have seen TZ talking on the ESE thread about a JaeCar replacement CDI kit for motorcycles, probably worth a look.

Instead of wading through the thread, use the "Thread Tools, View Images" tool bar at the top of the page to find a picture of it and that will take you to his post.

yeah right in an ideal world we all have friends with similar interests and spares
google hooper imports they have diagrams to show how to wire them up without a battery
I cant say its compatable as I dont have a honda to try it on

anyway how do you know its the cdi at fault? Theres the windings and the pick up that could be crook

Is that Bayden as in Bayden Sprozen? I remember he showed up at the (I think) last Ohakea GP on some piece of shit thinking he would clean up. Changed his tune pretty quick (after the 1st practice). Nice guy though.
