I've found the basic handling of my XS1 is just fine - it's only when you push it that things get scary.Gravel and off road is no problem - the flex is good to absorb the stresses. My riding style on it is based on momentum - I short shift and hardly ever go over 5 grand, just keep up speed, set up the corners well before you get to them, max lean and get on the gas early.Nothing beats the feeling of coming out of a 2nd gear corner, boots on the deck and hard on the gas - this is what riding a bike is all about....and if an XS650 gives it to me then thats OK with me!
This is a picture of an XS 650 that my brother in Canada built,it's a high quality photo, but when I shrink it to post it goes to shit.
In and out of jobs, running free
Waging war with society
Yeah I like that,A LOT.
sounds like you ride the same way as me.Keep it smooth and flowing. My main reason for changing things is simply because I like to fiddle an work on my bike, thats also why I don,t have much time for modern bikes.I also don,t rev,it out much, the only time I really give it to it is on the main highways passing cars,But mainly I stick to secondery rd,s.I know the long way to most places,an often they aren,t really any longer at all, just a lot more fun.
