    xr-riders round 5

i was looking foward to this round and racing with the south islanders.

    Qualifying
was hoping to get a good place on the grid which didn't happen. on the friday i noticed the right foot peg was angled down a bit but didn't thinkk much of it. went out for qualifying and on the first timed lap the foot peg broke off on the entry to splash and i headed for the gravel trap(thank you to Mel on the quad for picking that up for me). kept the big upright. ended up 39th on the grid.

    Race 1
got the foot peg fixed. the foot peg we put was for the oppostie side so didn't fit properly. got an alright start. my foot kept slipping of the foot peg and towards the end of the race the brakes started fading.

after the race we bleed the brakes and took the broken foot peg back to where we were staying to get it welded back together.

    Race 2
got an alright start had a battle with Matt Hoogenboezem for most of the race. i saw we were closing on Alex #41 so i pushed a bit harder to catch him and i did with matt following me. matt passed me back on the last lap going into higgins and i tried passing him back going round dunlop but i couldn't manage it and finished just behind him.
The brakes were much better and the foot peg felt as good as new

    Race 3
had an alright start. got held up a few times by Andrew Croft. going into turn 1 Helen Pasco out braked me only to run wide and let me back past and get on with trying to pass andrew and then catch up with matt. i passed andrew then started chasing down matt. i was knew i vwas faster around turn 1 and into spalsh, so i was ready to make the pass when i saw the yellow falg come out and i had to back off. i ended up passing him under brakes and held him off.

It was a great weekend and good to race the south islanders again. can't wait until i get to race them again.

Firstly I am going to say how well you have done with Road Racing since getting into it for the 1st time at the Start of the Season (May) last year.
You are only young Jeff and have many years off Road Racing ahead of you, so therefore going up to a 400 would be the best next move, (Thats just my opinion) ok?
If you do make that move then and after a few years of Racing in the Post Classic and you feel ready to move up again then you could look at getting in into the Pro Twin/Superlite class on a SV.
I can think of 1 Rider who started where you did a few years back and is now doing extremely well in the Post Classics.
Like I said to you, this is just my 2c worth but when it comes down to it, its going to be your call in what it is you do so i wish you all the very best ok?.

Top skills Mr Jeff. You have such a cool temperament at the track and the improvements seem to keep coming. Keep it up.

Good stuff Jeff, your times are coming down and results improving alot.

    Sorry Skip but i disagree.
Aviod a 400, your have more problems than its worth, most of them are 20 years old.
    An SV650 would be good.

    Good Stuff!

Awesome stuff Jeff, you have improved in leaps and bounds this year. Wish I could keep up with you! If only you could've heard me yelling 'SORRY, SORRY'! as I almost crashed into you in turn 1, I really thought I was going to take us both out!!

ps,I dont care which class you choose next year, just get the hell out of Street Stock 150's OK!

    See ya next round!

Each to their own but my partner Russell No: (90) in Post Classic Jnr has a 1989 ZXR 400 and has been Racing it for 5 years and hasn't had a Dam thing go wrong with it in that time. He couldn't be anymore happy with the way it goes than the what it did on the weekend where he did his PB times ever. I was more thinking along the lines of the cc capacity from going from a 150 to a 650 which to me is a fairly big jump for someone so young and who has so many years in front of him to Race a bigger cc bike.

    hey Skip.. i hear ya....

but i am also thinking about what luke could do.. and i do have to agree with kyle...

russell HAS had a good ride with his bike!!!
but he is not the norm ( the bike , not him..!!)

a SV650/hyoso... could be the next big class.....

i don't care how close you were to taking me out. i would only slightly care if you did actually take me out. i might end up doing 1 or 2 meets on the 150 next season just to annoy you

I started with the 1000 (should have started young so mines the mid life thingy),but unlike Russels bike it likes breaking down.Posties is the way to go before f2 I think.
