    Ladies bike pants. Suggestions please

    Hi there,

I am on the search for some cordura road pants. I am size 14 and am having trouble with the right fit....if they fit around the waist the legs are too long. (sure the manufacturers must think if you are size 14 + you must have legs for Africia) but I don't I'm 5'3 and also want a fairly good fit...not too baggy in the legs.

Has anyone else come acrcoss this problem and/or suggest pants that are a good fit...would be appreciated

I can imagine that cordura pants are difficult to tailor because of where the armour is sitting. I would suggest you buy draggin jeans to fit your waist. they are always manufactured longer than normal jeans and the kevlar coverage across the knee is very large - the reason being that they want people to tailor the length to fit, and so that the kevlar is 99% likely to still give good coverage. Since draggins don't have armour in them buy KNOX DRAGGIN' JEANS ARMOUR. There are two types:

    (1) the sock-style - you pull them over your knees first then you put your draggin jeans on
    (2) the stitch-in style - there are velcro strips that stitch into the draggin jeans and you insert the armour in them so they are affixed to the jeans themselves. Bit fiddlier, but they stay inside your jeans.

This will give you comparable protection to a cordura pant, albeit not waterproof. But you can just buy waterproof overpants anyway. Plus waterproof cordura pants tend to be really hot because the waterproofing layer tends to have minimal breathability.

I would try Rev'it leather pants... think theres two sorts of styles, good fitting for woman and would think easier to shorten if you have too

Or hang upside down from your legs?

    Hey,

Thanks for your advise....yes maybe draggin jeans could be the way to go with waterproof overpants.

    Cheers

Just remember ... a perfect fit standing up, is not so perfect sitting down on the bike. Then ... who cares how it looks ... you're busy ...

I have just bought the sock style they fit well are comfortable (while riding) and i figure if you stop for any length of time they are easy enough to remove so you can still be comfortable wearing jeans :-)

Agree there...getting a leg over has a whole new meaning in tight pants. Have you tried R-jays pants? They seem to be a good fit and not too long

Mobig are nice cordura with a good shape if one has a more womanly arse.
Altering leg length is not a problem, as long as the knee armour is in the right place.
pm me and we can talk about it, I shorten strides a lot for the short arse riders among us.

I picked up a great pair from Cycletreads on the North Shore. They are specially designed for women and come in short or long leg options. Check them out.
