Got up out my pit at some unearthly hour to pit bitch and turned around by the time I hit Tahuna.

You can't help the weather, act of ged and all that. I guess unless a club gets their track hire fee refunded then the short answer would be "probably not".

Oh come on. By the time I was down to 60kmph due to bad visibility I concluded there was unlikely to be racing happening. The tedium is fuggin wonderful in deep water BTW.

Yeah it was just a little wet but good fun, managed pole in formula auckland and second in race one, so not a bad day overall.

    I feel your pain
Thanks for sharing your bike cover.
I was enjoying the wet conditions, qualified on pole and I knew I could ride faster as I was stuffing up my lines by braking too late into the hairpin.
    Like ya said, next time.

Hmmmm.......After qualifying pole for F2 and just off pole for F1 I managed to crash out of the lead of the first Formula Auckland race despite feeling comfy at the front and OK with the conditions.

I rode through Castrol the same, I thought, as the three previous times but as soon as i rolled the throttle on the back came around so suddenly I had no chance to save it and lowsided into the air fencing/tyre wall.

My bike was fine, as i was I despite a very sudden stop, back first into the fencing.

Not sure if the crashes in that race had an impact on the club in relation to the conditions on track but a halt in proceedings was announced and some time later I was one of the group with the MNZ rep who inspected the track in a car.

Looking at the track from the slow pace of the car it was very obviously a dangerous proposition to continue the event. There was serious puddling along the back straight towards the kink and braking area as well as the entry (as ever) to Ford. There was a stream forming that flowed into the hairpin, which although at that point clear was going to get worse and the pools on entry and apex to turn 1 had got very large and deep. The weather forecast updated that morning predicted the worst weather to be around early afternoon and it showed no sign of easing.

I was in two minds about racing on with wets and while maybe racers should all have wet weather tyres, there were a large percentage at the event who didn't and that was what swayed us all in the car to say, call a halt to the day.

Conditions were in my view at best dangerous and if you were just riding around then it was doable but to race others on it was a serious accident waiting to happen. Ensuring everyone went home safe and well was more important given those conditions than a race meeting in my opinion and I'm sure of the organisers.

I have no idea if any refunds will be forthcoming but at the end of the day it was nature not the AMCC who prevented the event from continuing.
Ironically I went with a few mates into Pukekohe for a pizza after we'd packed up and a brief lull in the rain happened but on route back to Auckland the rain was very heavy and on route south.

Disappointing day for sure but here's hoping round 2 is warm and dry!
The older i get the faster i used to be.......

Ah, so you must be the owner of the (ex) pretty blue R6...

I was the guy who dragged it out from under the bales, after you buried it in there You probably had the most spectacular bin of the day at Castrol, you went in reasonably hard, sparks etc, the whole works.

Even walking on the track we could feel it was very slippery under foot...

So you think it is ok, not to get what you pay for?

Next time you are buying any tyres let me know and I will come and take them of your hands, act of god my arse, what if I were Muslim would it be an act of Alah or what if I don't believe at all, come that's an excuse if I ever heard one.

A GREAT BIG COP OUT! They gave us all a discount for the next ART day when the cancelled the last one, why not this, AMCC set the presidence not us (or God for that matter)
If someone passes you he is a nutter and you expect to pick him off the blacktop round the next corner, if you pass someone they are a slow and have all the gear and no idea

......snip ranting shite about Muslim's and tyres......
Why have a go at me? I'm not in the AMCC. I'm just going by other clubs. I'm sure the club have the same argument when they hire the track. They've still got to cover the track hire costs, timing equipment, petrol, marshalls, advertising, etc, etc.

    Sometimes SHIT happens.

Fuck..you're not a Pom or something are you?

discounts on the next race meet would be nice, but as i hear it, we already got them. if your a member, they were planing on making back the difrence on non member sign ups and spectator entry, and seen as both spectators left early and it looked like a small turnout, they prob only just coverd their over heads for the day. if the case were difrent i think they would have tried to give us discounts for the next race
