Newest Green MP is a biker & a KBer

For those who missed the news in the latest Sue Bradford Abuse Thread, it turns out that Dave Clendon, successor to Ms Bradford, is both a biker and a KiwiBiker member.

He has been riding motorbikes for about 35 years (non-stop! ) and currently owns a sports bike and a scooter.

I won't invade his privacy any further by listing his user-name here, but I just wanted to congratulate Mr Clendon on his impending appointment to the House of Representatives, and congratulate us as KBers on having a member of the team in the Big House.

I wonder if there are any other KB MPs? I know other MPs who definitely ride - but how many of them hang around on here?

P.S. Who is going to join me in lobbying for Car-Free Sundays on all the country's best motorbike roads?

So I need to keep an eye out for a bike with an incredibly large fueltank, or towing a fuel tanker?

Amazing bladder control... Very handy for those "all nighter" debates!

That's that. I'll have to logout of KB and not come back.

Doesn't surprise me too much. Motorbikes aren't generally ridden for reasons of tree-hugging but the Greens are still political party beyond environmental issues. KB seems reasonably well dominated by angry bigots but I'm sure that's mostly to do with volume (I know it's a computer. You can still shout). I'd like to think the average motorcyclist is a fairly open-minded individual, who wouldn't have too much difficulty getting along with Mr Clendon.

    Well that is interesting.

Whilst I see no point at all in the Green Party, it will be good to have a genuine biking person able to understand, present, and debate road traffic issues from an empathetic prespective.

Oh I don't know. If you've been following the Wellington City Motorcycle Parking thread like I have, you'll also be aware we've already worked out that personalised transportation is the most environmentally friendly form around.

You'll let them know about that in the Green Party won't you Dave?
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

    Not really a problem!

If it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck and looks like a duck, then it is safe to assume that it "is" a duck!

If the duck rides a motorcycle, then it can be a member of KB and I respect the duck's rights to be (different) a duck!

We may even eventually become firm friends but he will still be a bloody duck!

There are plenty of KBr's with nice bikes and misdirected politics, I will happily ride with them, I just won't vote for them! Settled!

I know Dave - real nice guy.
Last time I saw him he had an SV650 - not sure if he's changed recently or not.

If the greenies would stick to greenie issues, and leave the social engineering alone, I'm sure they'd do much better... certainly in my eyes.

Take that to the next party meeting, Mr Clendon!

Greens are often ill-informed pains in the ass, at least up this way. Environmentalists rock.
