my gf rides pillion on my gsxr, I can tell how "good" I have been driving by how long I get the silent treatment for when I get home. On the bright side there will be no chance of her falling asleep while riding.
Smoke 'em if you have 'em
You run what you brung, and pray you brought enough
get him to buy either the tank grap which fixes to the tank and has two handles on it or there was a belt the rider could wear that was the same. Short of that cuddle up and hang on
I take my 13 year old daughter as my pillion and she can ride like the wind. Leans into the corners before i get to them and i would hardly know she was there. I reckon it just takes time in the seat to get real good. Both my girls have been on the back since they were about 7 years old.
Trumpydom!
Do they have all the gear, my 12 yr old loves it too.. but yet to put the 9 yr old on a bike, bit of a figit... but she is biting at the bit to get on one!!! My problem is gear, can't do them growing so fast, 13 yr old wears leathers, but a little big for her. Is trademe good for bike gear for kids?
There are belts you can buy with handles on them for the ride to wear - my Dad wears it when my Mum is on the back - apparently they are really good for the small person that cant get their arms around the bigger person! lol!
Cycletreads has them - called "love handles" cost $45, and there is another brand as well that was more expensive.
are blokes allowed here?oh well here now so...the BF bike is just not pillion friendly type of bike so it will never be great. I take my little fella on rides in town and fitted a top box just for him so he has something solid behind, then he hangs on to straps in my jacket. Now you can buy a belt with straps for pillion but better still is a thing that fits on tank around gas cap that comes back with 2 handles for you to hold. So you reach around and grab these and as they are solid you can brace yourself with them. Might have to hunt as not seen them in shops here but they are in us mags so do exist. Really with a sports bike that is perfect, plus he has to ride smooth or you need your own. I'll shut up now... Tim
rode on the back of a cbr 600 about 2 months ago, boy oh boy was it so different, thankfully ive had plenty of pillioning experince! my advice would be to use your thigh muscles and squeeze tight when you need, and also counter-weight your balance when going around corners or breaking suddenly with your feet on the foot pegs - again using your leg muscles but less strain.
