    Auckland "can't merge properly day"

I must have missed the advertisement for this as I was doing my best to merge properly all day. However I witnessed some of the worst merging and lane changing attempts I have ever seen, probably about 10-12 of them in one day.

Ranging from a person attempting to charge up the outside of me at the top of an onramp, a van that decided that lane changing when level with my front bumper is a safe maneuver, people creating lanes where there are none, not leaving any space between cars at 90kmh when there are two onramps straight after each other... I have been truly astounded by how much shit driving I witnessed today.

Luckily I drive a Volvo so both my passenger and I were 'safe' but I'm feeling a bit nervous about taking the bike to uni in the morinng

    Man up, pussy.

Today was actually "put a cop car directly in front of Jafa on the Pakuranga Highway so he has to piss along at 75km/h" day. Both going into the city AND coming back!

Sounds like you don't fit in... in Auckland.

Every day is a race to beat that show off faggot in front, and show how you can multi-task better. If you get home and you've missed every car, you win!

Perhaps the extra complication of the weather yesterday pushed some people's driving abilities.

Indeed. Funny how a bit of rain makes car drivers go even slower...
Even on a bike it pissing rain its still a piece of piss to maintain the speed limit and above...

I still don't know what "push your speed means".Do they mean push your car?Simple solution - don't run out of gas.

A vehicle is fitted with a horn, for exactly these reasons.
d'Aucklanders fail to "tootle melodiously". A big set of FUCK-OFF airhorns alleviate a lot of problems.

They turned the on ramp traffic lights on heading north from Devo last night....... first time I have seen congestion at that point...... another fantastic innovation brought to you by the labour govt.

I held the horn on at the van - he was probably 20cm off my bumper when he finally got into my lane. The thing that worried me is that I continued to see this sort of thing happening throughout the day as I drove from the North Shore out to Howick, then to Westgate before heading back to Howick.

When I was rejoining the motorway from the T2 lane coming from the South Eastern Highway I had already speed matched the traffic and lined up with a gap, but the lady that I was intending to pull in front of decided that I shouldn't be there, closed up the gap, and then beeped her horn at me like I should have tried to merge somewhere else - perhaps with the concrete wall on my left.

You'd think so, but we've tried that in the trucks and it's still a nightmare at times!

You know, I don't think I've ever read one of your posts. I find myself transfixed on your avatar then realise how much time I've spent on the thread and move on.

I first learnt to drive in Moscow. And that was only slightly worse than driving around Chowick and Thailand Park.
