It is unfortunate the media puts unequal value on life. 500+ have died in the Indonesian quakes and they are 2nd class news.

What is sad is I have seen little support from banks / telecom and others with a donation account / phone number or similar. What has happened to large corporates offering a service like that (used to be commonplace). Now it seems down to the gubbermint.

I really feel for the Samoan community. They are a lovely people. The guy on the news the other night had lost 11 of his family. I couldn't comprehend that level of loss. Brought a tear to my eye.

Condolences to all those that have lost people in Samoa - pretty shockingly inaccurate information coming out in the early stages, I was even of the impression that it wasn't a big deal and people were just laughing the whole thing off...then I heard about the impact in Samoa...natural disasters can be bloody nasty.
