mmmmm indeed, however the petrol station makes more money if we buy one chocolate bar than if we were to fill a falcon to full from dry!!
tis a beautifull day.... i shall endevor to be joining whoever makes it to caltex

Fuck them, I'll park wherever the fuck I want. And, if they tell me to piss off, I will, their gas has always smelt funny anyway! If you all park against that back wall, it surely blocks noone. Obviously when you significantly increase the numbers it will start to interfere. Discretion is the key.
The only other option is the Tavern car park next to the service station. But, the tavern car park hasn't got any petrol pumps, or coffee machines, or paper to clean visors, or......
When I get my restricted, I might come along on one of these rides
Only month and a half to go...
It's cool to have new people on rides, you shouldn't worry about being a learner. I really enjoy taking it easy on rides, and not have to worry about pushing myself. Besides, I've been told that the way I ride, you'd have to be the one waiting! (Lol, that really is not far from the truth)...Originally Posted by alarumba

I had a great time on the ride today, cheers all!!

Nice day but feel like crap now.... Some cold / flu thing kicked in coming over the piecock hill. Felt bloody awful... Meh! What ya gunna do... Nice ride, nice to meet ya!
Cheers
Passed you guys going in the opposite direction coming back up the hill - I saw Flyin by the dramatic, recognised-you-at-the-last-minute waving maneouver!!! (Woah - don't think I can spell that one!)
Oh and I was hugely distressed to see that one of my favourite corners on the Kaitoke bit was being EATEN BY A DIGGER!!!! As in the whole road was being ripped out of being! It was so sad to see it as I rode along the new, sterile, straight bit of SH2. Aue aue......

Damn straight, indeed...
I am about to pen a letter to the editor of the Dominion Post, bemoaning the demise of my beloved Kaitokes.
At least the meanderthals will be able to text to each other happily for a few more km until they crash off the road at the first corner on the bottom of the Takas.

For sure was one of the best biking weekends I have had for a while and could be Winter next weekend so glad I got out. Good to see lots of bikes out and about and no major dramas that I have heard of. As for the Kaitoke roadworks, I heard they need to keep some of the old parts for access to the residents up there so lets hope they keep that in good nick and 100k speed limit and maybe if there are good connection points to/from SH2 then that might become an interesting detour (southbound) - won't be much though I suppose and could be a dead end road, will have to wait and see, or does anybody know exactly how it will be when finished?
pretentious moi?

I was in St Arnaud Thurs-Sun at the National Ducati Rally - wonderful!! (incidentally, met IDB and sbwells - both top blokes!!) That's why I wasn't around this w/end. Hamish went out on Sunday with some of you I understand. Happy to have any reports of his riding - his chicken strips on the Suzuki seem non-existent.......no names will be mentioned you understand.
Once we had 50 bikes turn up for a ride @ Caltex, which is when they asked us to move from the forecourt - quite a reasonable request given the circumstances I thought - cars couldn't get anywhere near the pumps. So now we fill up and move over by the white fence in a line, which so long as there's not more than around 20-odd bikes is fine. Sometimes we meet at the Tavern carpark after we've filled up.
Let's not piss Caltex off if we can help it.
