Racing Numbers, how where who ......

Whats the deal here, I have me race bike and plan on racing on the 8th May at aTaupo, I figure amongst 100 other things I need some numbers on my Bike ?
    Where do I get them?
Do I think of a suitable number say 46 and whack it on my bike ? or is there a process for it ie motorcycle clubs issue it ?

    Keen to hear your thoughts
Ive run out of fucks to give

First thing to do, is join a club and get a race licence.

Then ya need to learn to ride.

Then, contact the organisers for the meeting, and ask what entries have been received, what their numbers are, and who's cutting the quickest lap times in your class.

Then, choose the same number as that guy in the hope that the lap scorer gets confused.

Then, after you've efectively knicked the guys trophy, go and chat up his girlfriend in the hope of demoralising him further.

    what he said

MNZ dish out numbers but they are only required for national events, so pick any number you like. If pacific club don't like the number you pick (or it clashes with someone and they care) then they might ask you to change it.

Get 6" numbers from any bike shop, or use PVC tape. That's why I was no 11 in clubmans for first season

What they all said. You have to have a MNZ licence and that will give you a number no-one else has on their licence, so by rights you should be able to use that; turn up and race and if someone else has it they have to change not you; as they'll have a nunmber on their MNZ licence that they should be using.

Clubmans huh? Typical clubmans question, say what number should I use? Do you think these stickers will make me faster? Should I paint my lower fairings?
Be more concerned with getting your suspension, brakes and gearing sorted, think they only time top ten, so you won't need a number , or they could even use transponders? I think as a rule the 1-10 numbers are allocated to those that finished in those positions in the Nationals, oh and theres usually some tosser running 46, 34, 17 or 19, and no matter how good a job you do, you usually end up having to put a gay looking 1 in front with dodgy electrical tape or something, so buy 3 digits so if you have to change it still looks good in the photos!
