Sponsorship vs pay your own way

Given the lack of interest in my offer to sponsor riders by footing the entry fee for Rd 6 HERE I was wondering whether there is any interest out there by riders for sponsorship at ground level or if indeed it is as well covered as it appears to be.

Following on from the good work of many others, we were thinking about helping out a new rider next year at entry level with a bike (probably RGB150 or Formula 3) and the majority of associated costs with racing and maintaining it, but won't go down that path if there is no interest, and people preferring to pay their own way.

I know it is a bit early to be thinking about next year already, but we want to get a good headstart if we decide to proceed.

I know a young lad who's screaming to get in at entry level, but unfortunately wont be old enough till end of next year !!!
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

Very Very generous of you to offer to spend your own money on a racer

Re Sponsorship, may I suggest that you just choose who you think deserves your finance help, and go with that!!!!

Does the offer extend to over 30+ year old jaffas?

Seriously though, as Shaun said you should look for a young rider who you believe may deserve and appreciate it.

Be very clear about your expectations of the rider though (not competive expectations - but social and work ethic expectations), whilst this is nearly a free ride - it shouldn't be percieved as one.

.... back in green and feeling great ....

Very generous offer Chrissie, love to take it myself but I don't look like being able to race next year as I'm helping someone as much as I can. I looked around at who I thought was dedicated, broke and improving their skills and helped them. I'd suggest you do the same.

Was this on top of the one you gave away at round 5 Chrissie? Hard to believe money is so hard to give away but I have run into similar problems with substantial scholarships for people studying toward health related qualifications. I am part of a scholarship board and the number of people who say things like "I didn't apply because I thought there would be someone more deserving" is insane. Good onya for trying mate and don't give up. There are battlers in every class.

    .

Good onya chrissy. I agree totally with Shaun here.Pick someone you think deserving and just do it.
As an old has been (or better probably coulda been) I concidered myself to be unbelievably lucky when an incredably generous person paid my entry fees to a race meeting I couldn't afford to attend.

I for one appreciate your offer!!

I am hoping to go out and get some sponsorship next year. I didn't bother this year as I have had absolutely nothing to offer anyone, no photos of me on the track and a really 'well-used looking' bike. After teh winter round I am going to be painting my bike up nicely and put a CV together.

What I find really frustrating is that I was offered a pretty good sponsorship from a large world-wide company through work but had to turn it down as I work for the Govt. Govt workers cannot benefit from perks as it can be perceived as bribery.
