    Motogp 125's

Can anyone tell me what hp the 125's put out? The Motogp website shows their top speed as averageing 230kph over the last 5 races. Are they all 2 strokes? What no. of gears? . Specs seem to be quite hard to track down. Cheers.

No ivan, 60 is a bit optimistic. The world gp ones are reputed to put out around 50hp, that is pretty much the maximum you can get within the bounds of physics. The big difference between one you may see in NZ vs world gp is that it doesn't have such a peaky powerband, a lot more power through the whole range with a wider peak.

As far as top speeds go, I am pretty sure they can get in the high 230's maybe 240 at the right track. Best I had out of my old honda was 214 at pukekohe. The engines are all 125cc 2 strokes, the bikes weigh about 70kg too. There is a max weight of rider + bike of 130kg (i think), some teams have to add weight so their bike gets up to the legal weight!

Unless you listened to Bradley Smith on the final lap at PI a week and a half back when he ran wide. Fucken arse that clutch took a pounding.

I think 50 hp for a 125 is about right, top speed, they get up to about 235 kph top speed at tracks like Mugello, Phillip Island they can do 245 with drafting...

For the Aprilias and maybe the Derbi.
With the disc valve direct injection induction, exhaust valve and variable ignition that's in the ballpark.
The new Hondas don't get anywhere near that unfortunately as their engine is to all intents and purposes the same as it was in 1995, only cosmetic changes that made only minor differences when added up.
