Newbie 101 question. Where do I need to put the rego and WOF sticker?

Gday,

I feel stupid asking this, but where exactly do I need to display my rego and wof sticker?
I just bought my first motorbike (klx250s) in NZ after moving over from the states 5 years ago and have no idea where to put it. (yeah, I know that I'm setting you up for a joke.)
Do they need to face in a certain direction or be in a specific spot?

pretty much anywhere that can be seen without touching the bike is acceptable


some have it up by the dash.. others on the frame.. others on the licence plate...

there is some rule about the rego and warrent not being further than x apart but Ive seen plenty that are way off that and noone seems to care. I havent even had the tags on my bike for ages and they dont care. When they pull you over and run your rego they know if its rego'd and warrented anyhow. The only downside of this is if you go to town.. cause the offense is not displaying one, not not having one.

My rego and WoF holders are bolted on the back of the number plate, one on each side... never had any problems with that, and nice and outta the way

Pretty much anywhere it can be seen, however to avoid problems with parking wardens, police, etc its best to put them by the number plate (behind is easy enough. For ease grab a holder for them from ya local bikeshop.

I read in the paper awhile back that some guy got a ticket for no Rego. He wrote in with copies of Rego, and they let him off, but quoted the Transport Act (or something) which said they should be "displayed in lower left of windscreen", so he was technically at fault.
Not much use if you don't have a windscreen.
I have my WOF bolted to my number plate, obscuring the last letter of the the plate. Never had any hassle from the Police.

Near or behind the number plate would be good so it is visible.

We dont have windscreens, so there goes a and b... C is the one that causes problems. If any Aucklanders get stung by the city council for failing to display a wof/rego pm me (might be able to save you the hassle of writing a letter etc)

DOH! He only wanted a simple answer - he's on a bike FFS

Normally a bike would already have this fixed to the number plate - but any bike shop can give you a hand mate

Or you could be mischievous, and have it in your wallet - but make sure you don't park in a place it where they will check for it - and also make sure its a fast bike so you can do a runner ............ he he he he

The last guy who did a wof for me said to display it (it used to be under the seat) as they've changed the law and you can't write in to challenge a ticket issued for non display anymore. He may have had his arms too deep in the swarfega though.
