So dont watch it.Loved the Richards R32 myself, bought one years ago and owned it for 6 years, great car blah blah blah blah.Bathurst is about 8s,Ford/Holden nothing more nothing less. The whining mindless crap about "all in" is yet another attempt at watering down something of an institution.Go watch/support driftingor whatever they call it.

First half hour i was fly out front enjoying a clear track ahead and it wasn't till i started to lap cars lap 12 onwards and there were a few hairy moments at the top of the dipper with that long left before you brake to go down the mountain. the first few laps it took me a while to work out my braking marking for splash. The first bit of damage i got was lap 16 when at Konica Bend i went to hot and slammed up the backside of my Holden Kmart racing team teammate

    More to follow
After 3 hours and 86 laps of hard work has come unstuck with the dreaded DNF everything was going great i was on the 86th thru hell corner sweet as then up the long straight then the right and hair pin left then around the sweeping right and just over the crest going right is where something strange happened everything was fine then bang 360 spin and minor damage as the picture on the speedo shows i didn't even clip the wall then try and carry on and no drive i spend 20 minutes trying to limp it back to pits but the hill was too steep that it could get over so thus DNF i'm pretty guttered to say the least and just hope its not a sign of whats to come for Holden

Couldn't agree more. There are plenty of other events for the lesser classes and to have such brawn mixed with vehicles of lower power is simply dangerous. Turbo'd cars are another matter but I'm all for naturally aspirated engines in the touring car series and the Holden/Falcon battle is pure Down Under tradition. While I admired the Skyline's performance there's nothing like a strong V8 'on song'.

Nobody is forced to watch Bathurst, just as I don't watch drifting.

Yeah it was more interesting back then to be sure but bottom line is it's still a lot better than an afternoon of sodding cricket/golf/rugby/league/tennis that we continually get fed..

Me! Infact i'd love it if the new Nissan GTR got developed V8 supercar arse kicking machine but alas as we all know the series is far too one eyed now and the sad thing is the V8's are barely representitive of the car the supposedly are based on.
Mind you DTM is similar all be it on a higher level technologically and they seem more interesting somehow, the secret to this race this weekend is the track itself, one of the most interesting venues in which to race anything in the world.

Mullets are so passe`, either get a perm or shave your head. I just shaved mine this morning, it's so liberating.

That first hour can be a great period, all the kickin' a shovin' goin' on, the odd tantrum and toy throwin' shoutin' and screamin'....
Pretty much the same as the great race...
