Getting into Pro Twins

Hey, I have to race in pro twins next year in the Vic Winter Series. I am currently doing bucket racing which I started a few months ago and I am completely hooked. I want to step it up to something a bit more serious (will definitely still do bucket racing though!) without spending mountains of money on tyres. Also because I am inexperienced I don't want to jump into formula 2 and trash a high performance machine.

So basically what I want to know is who is selling their fully set up pro twins SV650 in the next couple of months? I nearly bought one just the other day but my loan couldn't go through just at this stage.

Please PM me if you intend on putting your bike up on trademe, I HAVE to race next year in Pro Twins. There is no other way! Got the racing bug

You're pretty emphatic about your choice which hey is cool but its contrary to your arguments about costs etc.You might wanna give crasher a yeodle--His 400 would be just the ticket to get yaself out there and racing in 2 classes too

It was raced last season and got 7th in the Nationals overall, only did 3 full rounds of 5.

The reason why I want an SV is because I want to be on a bike capable of winning from the get go. Not saying the 400 isn't but from what I have read and seen, my decision is an SV is the way to go for me. Obviously it is going to cost a bit, but they are essentially commuter bikes on a race track. Reliable motor etc.

pro twins would be great for you hmurphy, its a pitty that yellow sv650 on trade-me has a gixxer front end because that is one hot looking bike!

Just a note, but i have yet to see a 400 lunch itself at the track, but ive seen a few SV's do it.

I guess it depends on your avalable budget dude.
Also just where you are at with your riding.

You could have the very best bike and still mid feild or worse.
I'm NOT saying you aren't thinking the right way I'm just saying that if you want to do this racing thing you need to be honest with yourself.
For example where Im at now -2 year layoff. If you put me on the ozzy450 I would most likely mid feild at best Yet Glen went and won national level races on it.
Budget wise the thing is that if you can't afford to go out round n round the track it doesn't matter what the bike is -Inversely if you buy something you can afford to run round n round on a lot then you WILL go heaps faster.
-By the way the yellow one up here-yep not a bad bike at all and converting it back shouldnt be a mission as its only really forks

get yourself a bike quick man. I really enjoy seeing more people keen on the pro twins class, its a great class, the SV is quite an easy bike to ride and nobody seems to get too serious, serious enough to go for the win but its all gravy back in the garages. The bikes are fairly even and with a lack of mods allowed they can stay fairly reliable to. only thing is I dont know anyone who wants out of the pro twins class, so finding a bike might be hard unless you start from scratch yourself. good luck

I have an SV pro twin downstairs if you want it. At the Ruapuna National round it won two of 3 races including the GP. It easily won the Endurance race in March for F3, and was 3rd in the '09 National championship.
I can also garantee it is legal to MNZ rules

Sweet I will be at the winter series at Manfeild with my brand new second hand pro twin. Had to go cheap though because I am a student after all. So I will be racing a Hyosung GT650R that has been set up for racing (mostly cosmetic stuff).

WOOT! WOOT! You are going to have a BLAST!! I am hoping to move to pro twins next year too!
