If ya going to ride in a large group there will always be someone who will never be content where they are in the pack............in most cases more than one and reflects their attitude to life. Not a bad thing but when done without due consideration to others...............like I said is their reflection of life.

Ya take ya chances when you ride two wheels............and the same in a group.

If neither is acceptable don't do one or both.

You infer I red rep constantly, but you present no evidence. You also infer I have no ability to discuss, agree, or disagree, when it is more you who resorts to a put down when you can't win. Re-read.

The fact remains that you are a menace to society.
Hehe, your put downs are irrelevant to me. If moderators don't like their job, they should quit and go do something else. I submit it is more people like you who is a menace to society - belittling others as they exercise their freedoms, not that your caustic opinion affects me in the slightest.

I sure do. I constantly check and re-check my decisions, to make sure they are based on fact and not just what I believe, as I did here. There are plenty of times I eat my words, as I do here, and there are plenty of times I will revise a previously carefully-laid plan, because it turns out to be crap.

Yup, I was on the wrong track. Thats it plain and simple. Perhaps you never do this? Or maybe just never admit it.

You don't say? Are you suggesting when one makes a monumental fuckup, that one can't go back and do it different?
Thank goodness for the Internet...I've learned a valuable lesson. It'll all be so easy now.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Mis-reading a car is stopping/turning when it's unexpected can lead to tears...
Constant "editing" your riding style/decisions, on rides ... depending on changing circumstances found on that ride ...should be normal....

"Miss-reading" a car stopping/turning requires rapid "editing" .... not to be discouraged ....

Left, right, doesn't matter... if you're following close enough for it to matter, then you're an idiot anyway.

I ride in staggered formations a lot. With a group of friends who know each other well it can be a very enjoyable way to travel together at a good clip.

With a larger group of mostly strangers it can be problematic, particularly if you are on your own. If possible it's best to ride within a sub-group of the larger group, friends in other words. Thats how we approach rides like the Westpac run or the HA run (coming soon!).

If you are alone a reasonable practice is to follow the suggestion of another poster and keep in the left hand column, even if it means you aren't always perfectly in stagger due to others around you wobbling about.

Is it looks like it is becoming chaotic either bail or, as I've done, stick in the middle of the lane and increase your following distance from the closest rider - whatever side of the lane they are in.

Jeeesus wept !!! You were my first red rep ! Man, I wanted to give you welts you would never heal from !!!
You red repped so many, they stalked you !
Then, when those you red repped came after you, you ran to the mods and cryed that you were being bullied, which you were !
The poor Mods had to protect you, when in reality they wanted to shove a batton up your arse and make you cry !

Do you ever learn by your mistakes Steve ?
Time and time and time again i see you make silly, no, absolute stupid comments to which i face palm, which i'm sure many others do also ! But i fear, not many are keen to remind you how stupid you are making yourself look on here !!!
I wonder if it has something to do with the trouble we brought down on ourselves from the moderators, who were forced to act if we were to give you a piece of our mind !
I look above and feel for the Mod who was forced to act, when i and many others tore a strip off your ignorant arse, who now must hang and prolly shake his head, when you belittle him with no fuggin idea at all !!!

    Your a fool !!
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

I used to think that I always rode on my own as riding in groups was just unsafe.

But my mates say nah, its because you are a cunt.

Staggered riding works where there are rules. Often used in a parade. Also by clubs that ride together often where there is a clear ranking and nobody will pass. (No need to, as often the speed kept is more than enough for all...). Makes the bikes able to ride closer and personally I have never been passed by a car or "outsiders" while riding staggered.

The big "fun runs" are a problem as you will always have hotheads that want to show of. If I ride in one of them I always make sure I am last. If a late comer creeps up on me I wave him/her past so I am last again.

    Re the initial question:
    - Leave enough space to the one in front of you.
    - Keep to the left.
    - Keep one eye on the mirrors!
    - Ride your own ride.
    - When it gets messy leave!

May the bridges I burn light the way.
