    Angry Coping with workmates?

Im having one of those days where a particular person has been rubbing me the wrong way, the entire day. No, Im not being dirty, all you sick minded people lol. This woman has been annoying me for a few months now, and I actually went to HR about her to make an official complaint about a month ago, as she was making my life at work miserable. Now she has added one of my friends to her list of people to pick on. He happens to be asian and the only male in our department, and so is feeling quite targeted. Any suggestions for dealing with workmates that wont get me in trouble? I'd like to give her a piece of her own medicine lol.

She's not above me, but she has been with the company about 14 months longer than I have.

Bugger, that would have been a waay more exciting topic...

TBH though mate, people need to learn to HTFU and stand on their own 2 feet. It will not help you or him if you 'interfere' on his behalf. If you're going to complain then make it about you only and encourage your mate to stick up for himself.

What's her title relative to yours?
Do you have to work together?
Are you sure she's targeting you?
Are you over-reacting (serious question... I'm not saying you or are not)?
What's she doing to annoy you... specifically?

    Both have the same title.
We work in an office environment, dont have to deal with her too much. Only when she thinks Ive done something wrong really.
Yes, me and my friend, both. She caused a scene before when she came over to rant at us. Open plan office, everyone saw.
I could be. But she also made a remark that could be seen as racist (not to me, to him), and I dont think thats very fair on him.
And well, its usually small things, rude remarks in emails, tone of her voice when speaking to us, which I usually ignore. Its only when she raises her voice so that everyone in a 10m radius can hear is when it really bugs me.

Very tempting, but I have my own rifle at home. I think running her over in a truck would be more satisfying though.

Then I'd have a quiet word in the ear of her boss saying you think she's making life harder on you than she needs to for some reason and ask them to keep an eye on it.

Leave it at that (assuming that person will do something about it).

She then digs her own hole...

I can usually deal with males. Its bitchy females that I have trouble with. And thats what we have here. In an office of around 30 ladies (and one male) theres bound to be some bitching.

There are people like her in most work places. Would you say you could sum her up with the word "obnoxious"? If so I know exactly the kind of person she is and have worked with a few myself (still do actually). There's not much you can do except work on developing a dynamic between you where there is a degree of mutual respect. HR will call it a personality clash and not give it any priority until it effect productivity, but it's worth mentioning. I found the best thing to do was to be the mature one, not allow myself to be baited into arguements, and to be overly polite toward the obnoxious person in question. When they stop getting the attention/reaction they're after, they move on to the next victim. When they've pulled thier shit on enough of the staff, strength in numbers will get's attention from HR and thier job description suddenly changes to "We don't want you here anymore, fuck off".

OK I have had this situation exactly. I wouldn't bother giving them their own medicine unless you don't want a job ... and if thats the case go for it. I did the following:

    1. A written complaint to the HR Department - and its always nice to use their own policies e.g. harrassment and if a case of bullying then bullying in that complaint - they have to respond.

    2. If your friend wishes to do the same - then that bolsters and strengthens your complaint and adds evidence that it is not only one person.

    3. Leave it there, but take notes of any further actions by this person doing the same thing again.

    4. If HR won't do anything follow it up with the HR Management.

Takes time ... but that will allow for that person to receive the help they need to leave you guys alone.

Just slip a double dose of laxatives into her water bottle or coffee next time no one is looking.

Do it on a Friday arvo so you stuff up her entire weekend.
