I haven't really tried on the CBR, especially when I try to abide the law, get a ticket without a warning, and then GET CALLED MADAM!!!! (long story, I'll explain tomorrow, can't be stuffed writing the thread now)

    Hey guys,

Just bought my first bike during the week, 93 zxr250c. After many considerations as to what i should do for a first timer, this bike will keep me smiling for the next year or so until i get my full! Bike is in quite good condition, changed the rear wheel bearings today.....one problem though which is why i have been reading through this thread, my bro in law took it for a blat and says it hits a wall at 14 rpm. Like it has been restricted in some way......Anyone came accross this before?

Take it to a mechanic (a good one) and get the carbs cleaned balanced and tuned. Do simple things first.
I am pretty sure that your bike is not (significantly) restricted and any further power gains (above what the factory intended) will be minimal anyway.

when you say hit a wall, if your in first gear and try hit redline does it start coughing and dieing, if thats the case, check the back of the speedo there is a plug there that might be loose - this is the restriction cable, if its unpluged the CDI automaticly runs with the restrictor on making it run like a dog, failing that then take it to the mech, and also check your battery.

Cheers Gareth, Took it for a good blat this morning and as soon as it hit ~15 rpm it did excacty what you said John, coughing and dieing off. This was in gear 1,2,3. Runs fine anything below 15 revs but no power above. Just checked the speedo cable and was slightly loose down at the connection point to the front wheel, wasnt completely disconnected though, do you think that could be the prob?

Sounds like carbs to me. Ive got a flat spot at 16 at the moment, but my gas is about a year old... if new gas doesnt fix it its going to get a carb tune...

you're a nasty piece of work! He's had 4 posts in 30days... sorry for not being a SNIPER and picking off every post of every person

ZXR's and CBR's are cool, i (and a lot of CBR riders i know) prefer the ZXR250A seating position compared to the CB250RRRRRRRRR. Plus im a lank, and the CBR makes me look really gangly, see the pics of me on the ZXR at puke and you'll know what i mean!
