If I had to transport a bike again, I'd just make a post on KB asking if anyone wanted to ride it up or down the country for you. Pay that person the normal transport fee and then get them a 1-way ticket back home.
Doing it yourself would be best, but if you're a learner rider (like me) you probably shouldn't go open road.
For example, I'm paying $350 for transpro to send my bike from WLG to AKL. I'm sure someone from WLG wouldn't mind $350 for a whole days work (hell, it's not really work is it!). Instead, the bike has been sitting at the transport company's depo for 10days (so far) and I'm going absolutely insane.
Damn I'm stupid.
