...I like Biketranz 'cos they are majorly good at sponsoring our clubs ventures in getting classic and PC racers bikes around the country...eg, the Spring Classic at Manfield in October and the Southern Classic Festival at Levels in December...

I would use mainfreight if I had to do it again they are the most affordable but you have to arrange with them a little bit as normally they want everything on a pallet. You could get a pallet from a bike shop easy enough they normally chuck them out anyway. I was quotes $150 terminal to terminal from Auckland to Wellington but ended up collecting the bike myself.

I checked Mainfreight and they write down: "Sorry, we cannot move scooters. Please contact a specialised automotive carrier"

I've had two bikes transported from the North Island to Christchurch, one was from Wellington and Motorrad paid for it, the other from Auckland and cost me $200. They both arrived, on separate occasions in a van driven by a charming man whose origin is unknown to me. I do not know the company but both bikes were unharmed as were any animals, except for lower creatures like ants etc.

This is probably no help to anybody.

    Cheers

Has anyone on KB had a bike shipped to the US? I'm looking to do that, not in a hurry, but would appreciate any referrals. I have used local transporters to and from AKL and CCH with excellent results but now I need an AKL or WGTN to US East Coast... thanks

Thanks - but I though the poster above said he'd tried Mainfreight and they said no? Anyway I'll go visit their local office and see if they say different.

Just ring them and talk to someone that's not a complete moron. They shipped my 85 KX125 to me from NY. Was very reasonable as well.

They're fucking useless alright. When I was still at WMCC, Suzuki NZ went from NZ Rail, to them. Instead over over night with NZ Rail, it blew out to over a week at times. Often went to the wrong dealership etc too. You've gotta be bad, to be worse than NZ Rail!

I've used Biketranz before and they were good, and looking up some old threads on here I found CycleMove, Motorcycle Transporter services, and Jeffs do them. Apparently though some people have sent it through main frieght as well, and as long as you pack the bike yourself it can be a cheap service.

So what are your impressions of these companies? Any others not on that list?

Easy mainfreight all day long 5 bikes one engine . never had a issue
Just my choice or Opinion u can go get a qoute .no hassle .
I think they like pick up to central to area or city. i had one from timuru
2 from auckland one from new plymoth way. forget the others.
250.00 300.00 . haevent had one shiped in more than a year.
did a engine month ago. u can either pick up from depo or have to trucked to your door.
