    Inspecting suspension?

I'm looking at buying an late 80's GSXR or FZR, and really don't know enough about suspension for when I'm inspecting these bikes to spot problems.

I had a quick search but couldn't find it (tho I'm sure it's been asked before), what should I be looking out for? is there any way I can tell if the suspension is sad and will need work without knowing how the bike should handle?

The very first thing to remember is that the suspension units are 20 years old and if the bikes have been well used there will likely be a lot of wear and deterioration going on. Lets face it ( for example ) most cars that are 20 or more years old are starting to get very ''baggy'' !
It does take experience, if you are new to this enlist the services of a qualified and highly experienced motorcycle mechanic, if possible.
I can write a list as long as the day for things to look out for but many items do require an experienced eye and feel. I dont have time to do that but perhaps other people may wish to chime in....

If you buy a FZR1000 exup and it has ohlins it will no doubt be no good and I will swap you my stock good condition standard rear shock.
