Best tyre for track?

Hey guys, my metzeler race tec k1/k2's are coming to end of there life,
here are the options i know of:

metzeler race tec k1/k2
pirelli supercorsa
michelin power 1
bridgestone 003

any others anyone knows about? and which would you recomend...
(really like metzeler when it was new, had lots of rear grip!, and front was exelent on the brakes and felt really stable on the brakes turning in)-havnt tried anything else agressive,

Dunlops Ntecs seem to be the buzz at the moment...........but unless your racing and or at the top of your game any track specific tyre should be ok..........most riders cant over ride their tyres anyway.
Look at Gixxers post he has some cheap race tyres going

i noticed cycletreads are doign specials on new power races at the moment (the power 1, is the new model)

yeah im sure i cant out-ride any track tyres, but i wont say i havnt had my racetecs going sideways, but its quite reletive to my suspension, im using a hyperpro sports/racing rear shock and im not to aware of its condition, and i just seem to set it all to medium then a bit tighter seems to work well,

just need bit more time on tracktyres as i dont know if the rear was getting squermy due to tyre condition or confidence,

You ride well and are a contender for getting some slicks for trackdays even?
maybe get some setup advise as well dude.

as for Race attacks I love them and Im into them next time round

hmmn, are slicks more grippy than slightly cut tyres? i heard there v.similar?

and yes was definatley wanting to get some advice setting up!

get the cash instead... then buy a set each of used race tyres from the list that you have - then you can try them all out and they'll probably last you twice as long once you've gone through them all!

I might be better to stick with the same tyre as you're trying to sort out the bike's handling. Three different brands may require three completely different settings.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the mentioned tyres. Pick one and sort out the settings for that one, bit by bit. (suspension, compound, pressure etc...)

Pirellis are basically the same construction as the Metz's, Metzeler are owned by Pirelli. I have some Sportec M1's on my Duke but they're a bit too hard for balls out track riding (in my humble opinion). Assuming you can still get Dragon Corsa's (Evo ?! or whatever they're called these days!) I'd get a pair of them, they used to clean up in Superstock a few years back!

okay just came across a deal for 120 and 190 of conti race-attacks (medium compound)for $400 with one wet/damp trackday on them, sound okay? anyone know if they have as much juice as the race-tec? churz

Every one has there own opinon on what is and is not good mate, for that price, I would buy them and try them for your self

Thats pretty good, i brought a set of raceattacks medium done 1 race for $200, and i have got 5 trackdays out of them(my 600 normally does at least 200kms per trackday, since two people normally ride it per trackday), and about another 500kms on road riding. (last trackday rear started sliding, so being replace now
