    Tinted visor legality in NZ?

Moving over from the UK in 12 weeks, and was wondering what the situation is with visors and the law. Over here in the UK its legal to ride with a tinted visor, but you are suposed to carry a clear one in case it gets dark. Generally the cops dont take much notice unless you are doing things that get their attention anyway (wheelies and donuts up the high st etc.) What are they like on visors in NZ??

So it's legal over there now? Congratulations, common sense prevailed.

If I remember correctly, around early 2000-ish they actually did ban usage and importation of such visors, didn't they?

    moving...

well we are going to hang out round the amberley waikuku rangiora bit of canterbury for a bit as we have friends and family round there, but it all depends on jobs and houses in the long run. If anyone knows next weeks lottery numbers, then that would be grand cos I can tick the job box of my list for good Back on thread... yeah, they gave up o a lotr of silly rules here over the last 10 years. They changed the mot (wof) regulations to make the loudness fo an exhaust up to the judgement of the mot tester... which was excellent as I knew my local chap very well. So whats the score with non standard exhausts in NZ???

I rode all the way back from d'Auckland to The Tron once, at night, in the pissing rain, with a dark tinted visor...closed all the way.

(Because I forgot I would be coming home at night...geez )

Wasn't too bad actually - night vision kicks in and it's all good (ish)

I'd wager they could ping you for careless misuse at night time. Not that it stops me mind.

No problem really, although it has been an issue with the 'boy-racer' brigade. I run an open Yoshi on my bike, no way is it within legal tolerances, but I've never been pinged for it, or even had it questioned.

Imdying: they would probably look at doing you if something happened, but I've never even been spoken to, let alone fined, and I barely ever ride with a clear visor, and ride at night a lot around town.

from what i remember in the uk tinted or iridium visors were illegal if they stopped a certain percentage of light coming in

But you can wear blacker than black sunglasses and thats ok or have blacked out windows in your car. fuckin hopeless stoopid fucked up country!

Been stopped at a "booze bus" 7am on a motorway on-ramp, with tinted visor and "cored" cans booming V2 'ness throughout Newton Gully.

All I got was "nice bike". No mention of noise at all.

None of the law, including bike cops, has ever mentioned the noise.

That's my logic also... if you're not attracting attention to yourself, then they have better things to do.
