Well since there can't be two of those bikes in Wellington I guess it's yours I saw parked outside my office today.

The paint job looks 10 times better in person than the photo's. I was going to have a chat when you left (nice exhaust note by the way!) but was stuck in a meeting. I noticed no number plate so hope the compliance isn't too tough.

thanks guys, for the comments, positive and the ones not so, good to have honest opinions...

Oh the story of my baby, it's sad and long...

One of the first ZX6RR to be built with chassis number 151 it was imported to Aussie with the expectation of being raced, that said it was thrown in Superstock trim (For those who dont know, that means weight reduction, slipon, remapping, braided lines & after market brake pads, reworked factory suspension), not the fastest of ZX6s but it handles and stops like a wet-dream.

She did a year on the Australian superstock circuits, attached to the Aussy Superbikes then mades its way into my hands for a bit of club racing and track days.

When I decided I wanted a new road bike, I sold my Cagiva Raptor, stripped down the ZX6 and got started.

Stripped down to bits, I got the frame and fairings painted for $1500 by family friends (later found out to be a major mistake, this took 3 months and the paint should have been pearlescent silver instead of glitter silver), now finished I have numerous places to fix the paint on her to get to 'show level'.

I picked up a gazillion little bits from overseas and australia including the irridium finish screen, light covers, new blinkers (inbuilt into the mirrors) they all up cost about $800 max

the rims I got powdercoated for $25 each and they look AWESOME! best bit of the bike IMO, I am still awaiting my spare rearsets and midpipe that is coming over with my toolbox & stereo from aussy but it seams a battle in itself.

the bike arrived in the country 4 weeks ago, and spent 2 weeks in customs or with MAF, finally got it cleared, only to be told that I cant prove ownership and my blinkers arnt DOT approved (although this only matters for the comliance testing, after which they dont care for WOFs so I picked up some DOT approved Buel factory blinkers for $25 ea from Wellington Motorcycles!) so I am awaiting some paperwork from aussy which should be here friday then I'll try get it comp'd the same day, all goes well I'll ride up this weekend.

Because of the shit finish on the paint job I'm looking at repainting again at the end of this year to a Candy red over a gold base with some sort of similarly blue or full chrome frame finish and same for the rims, when I do this I am going to look at slipping a small turbo on, change the compression, mount an intercooler, remap etc. then put the muffler under the bike inside the fairings... just to be different, not to go faster, I know I could buy a new ZX10 for cheaper but I think there are a total of about 2 or 3 Turbo ZX6s in the world...

A lot of work which is why I'm looking for a SP2 to buy so I have a daily rider while this is being worked on over summer.

Attached a picture of the bike on the track...

AND YES I KNOW I SHOULD HAVE BROUGHT A SUPERSPORT TRIM ZX6, but this only cost me $6000

I have a few mates in Welly who are starting to modify their sports bikes a bit, and will hopefully get some photos up here soon, one is making a streetfighter out of a CBR900 so should be good.

Now my questions for you guys:

-> Why does the brake resivour look out of place?
-> What was wrong with the power rangers?
-> Who is the people you guys would reccomend in Welly for sheet metal work or custom manifolds?

everything else has been changed to something more bling, thought it would of been some trick new one. Looks like the only standard thing left on the bike.

Hmm, never felt the need to change it, I might cut up an old sock and stick it over it now you mention it, look more racey that way...

Nah seriously the brakes are awesome, had the back wheel off the ground at over 200 KPH - > not on purpose tho...

DG Engineering. Dave is a mate of mine who is into drag cars etc but he does absolutely perfect alloy welding and can make just about anything himself. He's a bit hard to get to concentrate on a particular job but the end result is always perfect. He's built his own blown alcohol car, blower manifolds, diffs, suspension, not to mention heaps of stuff for my bikes at various times.
