    F&P appliance service question

Slightly bike related - it has been used to wash beer glasses after a ride :-)
Anyway, F&P DD601 dual dish drawer, the main power board (filter board) blew up while the top drawer was being used. Hence the top drawer is up and locked - and full of dishes. Anyone know how to turn the lid motors to unlock the drawer? The board fried badly enough to melt the connectors going to the top drawer, so I can't just install a new board and power the lid up.
I think know why the board fried, the cable/hose guide for the bottom drawer broke and the loose end stopped the lid closing properly, resulting in a flood.
New board, 2 new cable guides and a new loom - probably only marginally cheaper than getting a new d/drawer. But if I dump this one theres 3/4 of a dinner set and most of the good knives and forks in there as well.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

How did you get the front panel off the top drawer with it shaut as the lock pins are out of sight at that point?
The dc drive motors wind a thred bolt that pulls the lid down.If you have the front panel off then you should be able pull the guide rails forward if you pressure the draw front up and the motors will release perhaps.

Ouch ous did the same but just flooded the bottom (a hair dryer to the rescue) once apart the motors that wind the top down look like they are just little 12v with a worm drive ( reminded me of toy motors ) if you can find wires you could try to jump them...
worce case if you are going to ditch it i recon you could force it open... but the brushed stanless handle is only plastic so it would soon snap...

    It's rooted Pete.

Use a crowbar to jemmy off the front cover.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Yeah well thats the problem. I cant access the top drawer motors at all. I've removed the bottom drawer easy enough, thats how I got at the filter board.
I could try putting 12v onto the top drawer motor wires, I suppose.
Go and get the battery out of the bike...

They are a dc drive motor so should work ok.I only worked on a couple after they changed from inflation seal to pull down lid.The drive motor wires should be accessable from the small rear inspection panel or its get out the tin snips for you im afraid.

"Sabre saw" is the answer you are looking for.

A workmate has had the same problems with his unit. Required a techy to come out and replace wiring and boards.

    F&P are crap.

Had a similar thing happen with the brain on our F&P - just about set the house on fire
F&P supplied a new brain, we had to pay to have it put in. They were quite good about it as we had no receipt for it.

Lasted about 4 years, took it to the tip a few weeks back

    Another faulty F&P appliance?

    Why am I not surprised...

    Good O'l F&P eh!
Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

As an electronics tech,I only buy appliances with mechanical timers. If the marketing says "microprocessor controlled",I tell the salesman to stick it.

    Buy Euro or US
