GPX 250 fuel leak

So I have a little issue with a fuel leak and although am going to investigate further this weekend, I wanted to know if any other GPX owners (or other owners that have a similar fuel tap system) have encountered this problem before.

A couple of months or so ago I noticed that my '07 Kawasaki GPX 250 was letting a bit of fuel leak out from the fuel tap while set to the 'On' or 'Res' positions (was fine if I turned it to the 'Off' position). Being very green to the world of biking/bike maintenance, I took my bike into the shop for them to have a look. Turns out the fuel tap is made from 2 plates held together by 4 screws to which one was a bit loose. This was the cause of the fuel leak I was told. Luckily my bike was due for a full service so it wasn't a complete waste of time taking it in. Don't think I even got charged for the tightening of the screw

All was going well until I fulled up my bike last night and when I got home, I noticed the same thing happening again! Will be checking if it's just the screws again or if it's something more this weekend. I'm hoping it's just the screws as if I have to take the tank/fuel tap off, I won't really have anywhere to put 17L of fresh fuel

So just wondering, has anyone else encountered any similar issues like this? If so, what was the verdict?

Screws might be loose but I do advise ya to turn the petrol tap to off when parked anyway.--see R6kids thread

Haha yeah, my car always is in need of fuel (and love for that matter). Poor wee thing gets so neglected in comparison with my bike.

I believe there may have been a recall on the F6F & F7F models Fuel Tanks - somehing to do with mounting dampers if memory serves... (Perhaps another owner could refresh my none to good memory...

)

May well be worth giving the Dealer you bought the bike from a call to have them verify whether or not it could possibly be handled under warranty...

Your bike will love you longer if you look after it... Cars just don't care. They have skin...

Anyhow, what brand (and grade) of fuel are you using??? just doing a bit of a survey.
