From what i have been told they dont make quite the peak hp as an SV but make up for it in the handling/chassis department.
I know there are a few racing but nobody seems to have "realised the potential" yet................ unless the is a rocketship being built as we speak.
probebly not as easy to get performance parts either.
however i am sure ryan F has got his all "sorted" lets face it a rider of his calibre doesn,t ride "a dog' eh

Have a look at the Cagiva Raptor 650.
Not sure if it is homolgated for Pro-Twin though.
Suzuki engine, more HP, better suspension, better exhaust etc.
Might be worth a punt?

Could you make an "Ozzy 450" out of a Daytona 675?![]()

Think your confussing Protwin with F3.
I think the ER6 is more comparable to the Suzuki Gladius both which IMO would not make that good a Protwin bike.
The Raptor is good but someone would have to get MNZ to homolgate it and the Hysung GTR has had recent improvements that could make it a very good proposition. Even if it aint that great put a good rider like Jay on one and I reacon he could be very hard to beat this year.
A Fischer MRX 650 with all the options from the states would be awesome but only a fool would allow them into the class.
Only bikes allowed are those homologated by MNZ. Only exception would be if a club wrote some supplementry rules for their race meeting.
All the rules are online @ http://www.mnz.co.nz/competitionrules.aspx
In order to think outside the square or bend the rules you first have to have an intimate understanding of them.
Could see that getting very messy around the airbox!
Still like the idea of a top of the range 748 duke with 650 barrels. You get oversized everything so cranking up the load will still have a super reliable bike.
Or very latest 250GP bike fitted with custom made 250GP style motor (you are allowed to build your own motor right?)
Lost count of how many times I have read the rules but still don't understand them.
