So Waipuna is basically the onramp yes? we could slow it down at this point until we are all back as a group.
Waipuna Rd is a 50kph area, complete with a stationary speed camera. Only danger here is that if the ride is large-ish, we'll be queuing in the fast lane over the bridge, for turning right onto Waipuna Rd (controlled by traffic lights)

Except that doesn't make sense... The Pakuranga Highway doesn't connect to the South Eastern Highway, so you can either turn left onto SE Highway (also called Pakuranga Motorway), or you can turn left further on, at the T intersection, onto the Pakuranga Highway (also called Pakuranga Rd).

Its possible you don't know the SE highway goes over Mt Wellington Highway, so those roads don't intersect?

I can get some google streetview handy?

If you enter the Southern at Mt W from Waipuna rd you have to go past Sylvia Park , which is about 5 traffic lights and really messed up loony traffic as all the cages dart around trying to get into Sylvia park.

    Why Mt W in particular?

Could go along Ellerslie-Panmure Highway to the Ellerslie on ramp. Or just stay on the SW Arterial till it intersects the Southern (not much visibility, admittedly)

If you really wanted exposure you could go in the back entrance to Sylvia Park and come out the front entrance just before the motorway onramp.

going all the way to ellerslie would probably be worse, as its more lights

    Some streetview links:

The run down Mt Wellington Hwy to Onramp (note, you go under the SE Highway): http://maps.google.co.nz/?ie=UTF8&ll...55.34,,0,-1.91

Only two sets of lights between Wiapuna Rd/Mt W Hwy junction and Ellerslie on ramp . One at Lunn Ave, one at Roberts rd (Mt W hwy/Ellerslie Hwy is a free turn.)

Other way is about 4 outside Sylvia Park and one at the Motorway entrance.

My brother-in-law is keen to do this ride (if he's not on call), but he doesn't have a bike.

If anyone has a bike he can use (full licence, over 25 and so on and so forth), can you please PM me.

I'll be there... happy to help out in any way I can (TEC etc) - I'm also helping out Klingon and the "Scary Bikers Sewing Circle" with their efforts - so should be able to help anyone out who wants to buy a printed up flouro vest, flag, armband etc

I have had this response from the Police.

Thank you for your comprehensive report regarding your club's upcoming ride so we have a 'heads up' on what is happening. As discussed, your information has been forwarded to the Senior Sergeant of Motorways so on the day our staff who are working, and communication centre, can be informed of what is going on. Handy to know about the ride as we may receive calls from the public. As you are aware, It is a safety issue that the motorway system flows well and we are pleased that you are mindful of that.
