    Back Pain

    Hi All

I've recently got involved with my local club waving the flags on the start finish line at race meetings. I know there are a whole heap of girlie bikers that do the same.

My questions are - how many of you suffer lower back pain after standing on the concrete all day and how can you avoid it and what do you do to remedy it?

Gotta say even two days after the even my back is still aching!!!!!

In a nutshell--BETTER SHOES. Also keep the wind off your lower back
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?

Get some orthapedic sneakers from athletes foot or a store like that. I got a pair for work and have never had any sore feet again, absolutely brill and have excellent venting so your feet wont get hot and sweaty etc.

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

This ain't nothing to do with being a girl - but something that affects everyone ... personally I take quite strong painkillers (Voltarin - prescribed not those weak ones from the pharmacy) for pain which is made worse by standing for long periods on concrete.

Do you take them before the standing as well as after? Sort of like after a night on the booze you take a berroca and two panodol before you go to sleep to avoid the hangover.

Also stand one foot ahead of the other rather than side by side. It reduces the load on your spine.

A decent pair of insoles in your shoes can be helpful, too.
I used them when I was engineering... standing on concrete floors all day

Go for a walk between races too...perhaps a run (out on to the track to pick up a dropped bike is probably not recommended though, if you have back trouble)
Diarrhoea is hereditary - it runs in your jeans

If my nose was running money, I'd blow it all on you...
