Justice is non-exhistant unless you're famous. And then depending on wich side of it you are on it can bend to your wallet.

The whole incident stinks of rampant labour-spin to create sympathy for Helen and deflect the attention away from the shocking handling of the Tamihere affair, if you ask me.

Agreed! Funny how things like that always end up being publicised greatly around certain 'events'. America... NZ... Australia, you name it they cover it up.

    Bloody Pathetic (Helen, not pic)

There was NO danger to anyone or anything when the door opened. Those stupid protectin guards could have done fuckall and they still would have been fine. I know for a FACT that a door opening is a "non-event" in that plane and at that altitude. I infact, have purposely opened a door mid-flight, in order to give it a good slam to close it properly.

Granted, the air flow over the outside of the door would have made it damn hard to push out to slam closed, but all they had to do was slow the aircraft and raise the nose.

It definitely was a story to divert attention away from other matters.

people who jump out of planes don't have any problem.. skydivers go up way higher, even with no door there from the start, and they're fine till someone boots them up the arse (depending how new you are to volentry jumping out of a perfectly good plane).. pathetic.
Oh, but mind you, the paper reported that she was 'bruised and battered' which later goes on to say the turbulance before the door popped ajar, made her jump in the seat and she bruised her elbow..

Now if the Piper Aztec had a pressurised cabin, it would have been a different story. I don't think the DPS officers would have been trying to stop the door flying off in that situation...

Think about it before you crucify Helen yet again. How would you have handled the situation? What grounds do you have for assuming she manipulated the publicity any more than would be reasonable for any politician in the circumstances? What exactly would you have expected her to do?
Next thing you'll be suggesting she arranged for the door to open...

That's how she hurt her arm didn't she ? See, she knew there was no danger, so she wrenched the door open (and her arm) knowing it would be good publicity (diversion) and get a bit of sympathy.

    She should give Sete lessons...
