    yay PMCC Round 1 (SS150)

It was a great turn out for the first round of the brm summer series with great weather and great racing.
It wasn’t the best start to a new series for me but with three rounds to go there is still time to get a good place.

I was a bit worried about the track conditions to start with because I didn’t know weather the track had been fixed since last time we were at Taupo, but my first lap of qualifying brought my confidence up once I had seen the dodgy parts of the track had been fixed. The bike ran really well during qualifying, possibly the best it’s ever run even though it was geared so I wasn’t even getting into top gear. It didn’t take me long to remember the track layout and I knew I had put a good lap time in, I just had to wait for the print out of the results to see how well I had actually done. I was pretty please when I saw I had qualified 2nd.

    Race one

I thought I got a good start but obviously a couple of people got a better start as the speed past me coming into the first corner. I spent the rest of the first lap on the tail of a 250 but after that I lost another place then another and another. The harder I tried to get the places back the more I screwed up corners and there was less hope of me getting past any of them again.

    Race 2

My aim was to relax for this race as I know that is part of the reason why I was slow in the first race. I stuffed up the start by dumping the clutch too quickly and tried to save it by pulling it in a bit again but I was still slow off the line, but I only lost one place coming into the first corner. I felt a bit more relaxed but every time some one went past me I would tense up and fight back.

I’m gutted that I didn’t do so well in the races after I had a good qualifying session but it was still a good day.

Thanks to Baycad services, Burrell signs, Quallity auto machinests, Autocycle refinishers, Scrivy and the Pacific motorcycle club.
