No its not wrong to ask once, if you can accept the answer, it becomes wrong when you go on about it.

Having been a steward at club level and Clerk of the course at national events (admittedly off road) I can quite understand the stewards attitude. What it comes down to is every time you make a decision you have to think "What would the coroner say" and if you throw one rule out the window they start asking what other parts of the rule book you decided to ignore.
