Sheared bolt in the engine case!

so today i was doing some work on a wee 2 stroker and while tightening up the bolts that hold the top end on. i accidentally tightened too hard and the shank snapped. there is now a shank in the engine case that i cant get out with pliers or things like that. other than taking it to a specialist to get it removed is there anyway i can remove it myself?

If there is some shank protruding you can grind some flats on it and put a crescent on it.

Or, head to an engineering supply shop and look for stud extractors, if you have a reasonable drill and a steady hand you should be sweet.

These ones have a drill guide if the stud is snapped off below the surface, then there is another type where you drill into the fastener, then hammer in a kind of hex shape shaft and slip a special nut over it to unwind, these work better than regular easy outs..

    Good luck.
