It did occur to me, that if they're following God's will in selecting a new Pope. Why weren't the Cardinals individually isolated with a list of nominees for a period of time to pray for guidance. Then they would cast a vote and the winner is whoever had a simple majority.
This allows no possibility of influence or lobbying during this period.

You mean they were lobbying each other to determine God's will...

... but that doesn't make sense...

    Cool

I find it very interesting that he is German , with the close relationship that the Vatican & germany shared during WW 2. be interesting to see what develops between the new pope (vatican) & the European union headed by germany.

Hehe freind of mine used a phrase awhile back I think you'de like bugjuice. Was when some mormon missonaries came to my house (family was mormon at the time but I never felt right about it though I did go to church and all that to make my parents happy) and he happend to be there. They tried converting him and told him what heaven was supposed to be like and don't you want to go to heaven young man? Well his view of it turned out to be a bit like mine. Quiet and restrictive. So he tells them "If that is what heaven is like then I hope to burn in hell." The look on thier faces was something not to be missed.

my friend was telling me some time ago that the Vatican got (and is still getting?) money from the italian government because Mussolini tried to get the pope to tell the worlds Catholics that Italy was on God's side.

    Is he dead or something?
Those who insist on perfect safety, don't have the balls to live in the real world.
