IS it just me or are there an awful lot of scooters for sale lately.

I'm having a real hard time trying to sell my scoot, I looked on trad me the other day and there's an awful lot out there.

There's heaps of chinese scoots these days at cheap rates. Lots of competition and also the new ACC levy crap doesnt help as 50cc's will get screwed if it goes ahead. Your looks good though, keep trying mate.

If you had one, wouldn't you wanna sell it too? They are so unsteady and dangerous on the road - no way would I let my kids have one [not that they wanted one of course, they both have dirt bikes and a ride a normal bike]

I don't think they are that much more dangerous than a full size bike, it depends what you're doing on it really, less things to worry about (no foot controls) so for beginners I would say possibly even safer around stop start traffic as you can concentrate more on whats going on around you rather than stalling/getting the right gear/etc. Obviously I'm referring to twist and go type scooters.

My 18 year old rides scooter to college but then Kapiti is a fairly sedate type of place and I dont have to worry about him with passengers. He came home with more war wounds on the dirt bike when we had it. But back to topic, yes 50cc seem to sell slowly, i'm planning on getting rid of mine soon to get a PGO G-max but maybe I can just trade it

You have no idea cos many scoots are great to ride, stable with low centre of gravity, and can keep up with and beat cars in traffic. My wife has an old relic, that passes traffic including other "real" bikes, so light it stops in half the usual braking distance. You wouldnt give your kids a scooter to ride cos they are dangerous, but they have dirt bikes. Hmm, interesting logic.

Soooo many scooters got registered last year by noobs and now gas is cheap again they are bailing back to cages. Probably had an accident too, and will leave us holding the handbag and paying for their mistakes. Who would have guessed.
