So much for the public displays! Whakatane's was a disaster last night, with the fireworks going off in major non-controlled fashion and setting fire to all the scrubland. I'm amazed to hear on the radio this morning that no one was seriously injured or killed. I bet that's the last time the fireworks will be on over the river from the town... What a fizzer.........
