Yeah for sure. Everybody says the world has moved on from racism. At the same time they are thinking 'yeah right'. Every white guy i know will say a maori joke, but they get on with maoris good (you have to in the BOP). My girlfriend seems real PC. she will kick me when i say a gay joke, or a maori joke.. she is maori. but im just playn and she knows that. If i was racist i probably wouldnt go out with her. Yep my views too. I'm a bit surprised though. But on reflection I think they see Hone as the past and not the future.

I suspect too that Hone has rattled a few Maori who see him as an obstacle for their political acceptance in mainstream politics.
