Bike sounds like it's not warming up when riding even after 15 minutes on a hot day

Hey guys, my bike seemed like it wasn't warming up at all last sunday in auckland, if you remember it was a darn hot day. One of my mates told me it sounded like i've dropped a cylinder, and sure enough when i got home one of the manifold pipes was distinctly colder than the other three. a few days after that i realized the rubber cover that covers the hole where the spark plug is for that same cylinder was partially opened, could this have been the cause at all for the bike not warming up?

And running like a turd and drinking fuel and all those other really clear signs were overlooked by you ?

If i rode a bike that didnt warm up and ran like a turd i would stop and investigate, please get the rest of the bike checked to see if you have missed anything else.

yea they were actually haha cos this bike has always had starting and idling problems, so i've assumed running like a turd would just be because its not warmed up but 15 mins and it's still powerless kinda annoys me... Ill get it looked at, let me know if ya think of anything else... thanks

where would the lead be? would i need to take the tank off?

you should be able to just look under there and find four plug leads.. give them a LITTLE tug and see if one comes free.

hey i've only recently got round to tugging those leads i think they are pretty solid, one of them was not fully closed but the lead itself doesn't come out when pulled a little.

Have i just got a bike thats one out of a hundred bikes that doesn't stay 'healthy' or am i not riding right? I'm sure i am, i got told to post a vid but everytime i get the bike working i don't bother. anyone got ideas on any user errors that may be causing the bike to not like starting? even when it starts it doesn't start immediately like other bikes. without throttle assistance, a good start for it would take 2 seconds before it fires and the idle slowly creeps away from 0

The rubber thing that covers the hole is the spark plug lead. See a mechanic before it gets worse. Was the loose cap the same lead for the dead cylinder?

yea it was the same one for the dead cylinder, thing is, it's done this before and apparently the guys at the workshop fixed it but, no... love your picture thing by the way haha its awesome

Sounds like a dead plug , or lead not on properly,maybe a coil faulty
Replace the plug on the cylinder with the cool exhaust...
Try that first.

k now its started... apparently i should use lower octane petrol like 91?! high octane too rich? it doesn't make sense in my head somebody explain? oh and is there any way i can turn my fuel off? theres the pri position the reserve position and the on poition, is there a position where i can turn the fuel off?

Forget that. Take it to a mechanic that isn't shit and get him to look it over for you.
