what i do in these situations...

When i fnally make it home I take the missus to the bedroom and thank god im still alive.

I can understand people being angry. But in all honesty it's 99% of the time nothing personal, just bad driving.

I'd hate to know about the times I've pulled out in traffic or changed lane without ever realising someone was there.

this whole XXX tried to kill me the other day attitude is a weird one. Who in their right mind hops in/on a vehicle and deciedes 'today is the day i'm gunna end a life'

It's a game of survival the sooner you stop trusting other road users with your life and put that faith in your own hands the better things will be for you.

I prefer NOT to ride directly next to cars, some people shoulder check, others rely to much on their mirros showing them everything and others just don't bother. And cars have blind spots that bikes fit quite nicely into.

I'm either in front of a car or behind a car when in a two lane going the same direction situation. (staggered format ala group rides) It's served me well a few times now.

Ive had dozens of close calls where the driver was at fault, most they just dont see ya, they get a fright when they do and usually give a sorry wave, but this idiot saw me as i looked straight at him, but he still forced me onto the shoulder then added the middle finger.rego noted and justice will prevail

The ones that admit fault ease the rage... the ones that antagonise don't do themselves any favours.

I remember once when I was walking down the street this guy bumped into me and instead of apologising he just laughed and continued walking. It made me so angry! So now, every time I walk past someone on the street, I punch them in the face.

    I agree with your logic.

Unfortunately, not intending to take this off-topic, but this attitude on the road is exactly the sort we're up against in terms of ACC rubbing their hands with delight at bleeding us dry.

What is needed is an overhaul of road users attitudes when it comes to being in charge of a vehicle. Rude and self-righteous car drivers (and maybe a few riders) are the cause of so many accidents directly or indirectly - and who gets to pay????

It makes me fume when other drivers give me the finger and yell abuse at me when they've been pointed out to be in the wrong, and yet when on a bike it seldom is a good idea to provoke them further.

Our roads would be so much safer, accident tolls would be way down and costs for medical services if people could only control their egos.

As a road user, you have to accept accidents with other road users will occur. Sometimes they'll be in the wrong. Sometimes you'll be in the wrong. Often both parties contribute to an accident (forget about who is "legally" wrong - simply put, most accidents require two parties).

So if you have adopted this attitude, and if someone nearly manes or kills you, you accept that is a simple consequence of being a road user. It's a known risk. It's nothing personal. Nothing to get all wound up about. No need to retaliate. Realise that just as this person has made a mistake - you're probably going to make one over your lifetime of using the road as well.

So just take a moment of shrug it off, let the adrenalin return to normal, and ride off in a calm state - otherwise you might be causing the next accident sooner than you expected.

All fabulous ideas but I'd prefer to shit in his bed, wipe my ass with his toothbrush, file his income tax return with obvious faults, paint his bathroom an obnoxious shade of purple, mix up his rubics cube, drink his last beer, piss in the bottle, seal it back up and put it back in the fridge, give his poodle a hickey, get his wife adicted to marjong, sew closed the tops of his socks, teach his kids to curse in swahili, turn his TV to Shine TV and break the channel change buttons, dress him up like Shirley Temple and spank him with a hockey stick live on the internet then finally advertise him in as wanting a flatmate in the New Zealand National front news letter.

Take that ya blind ignorant cager!
