Couple of questions for those who have done it before:

I was planning on using spent tyres as I heard that you can't use them again after riding at Wangas. Anyone else experience this?

Also, is a steering damper really necessary? I haven't needed one at Taupo or Manfeild but it has been pointed out to me that I should get one for the street.

    Anyone got a spare one...
    Hi Dan
Only use new or near new tyres mate, (theres little enough grip as there is). Steering damper is nice to have - but is dependant on your riding style, if your prone to yanking on the bars & hangin on too tight - then yes you'll be wanting one.
It is possible to ride without one though, just not ideal. It aint the isle of man........but still has a couple of gnarley areas.

OK, good advice. Sticky tyres it is.

I have never felt the need for a steering damper so far but I might be gripping on pretty tight at Wangas!

but in saying that i did love going over the railway tracks and through the cemetery...... the crowd also did it for me at wangas..... my first crash in T1 i could hear the cheer as i was tumbling... it was louder when i got up and even louder wen i got the bike going again my 2nd crash in T1 the crowd was louder than my first and they cheered more when i got going and i could hear them egging me on each lap i went past that was cool i'll never forget my first cemetery circuit or hacksaw

Keep the #1 tag, take heaps of photos, even in the pits. Then you can bull shit to the grand kids about how you won a national title.

I am planning on sleeping in the van in the pits - It's what I did last year.
No showers that I could find, but thats only a problem for people standing next to me

Wish I had a van. We could spoon? Hey...maybe I will get blown off the track

Seriously though, I was planning on having an uncomfortable night dossing in the chunkmobile, but now the little general has told me that she's taking it for some fucking horse event.

    Van for sleeping

I have a house in Wanagnui and we are bringing up my van and another vehicle, if we are allowed to leave our vehicles in the pits over night i can offer it to someone to sleep in just depends on the weather and if we can get our pit setup christmas day and get the gear into it.
If worse comes to worse its an option for someone cheers.
