I'm entered in F3 - first time on a street curcuit and looking forward to it.
Couple of questions for those who have done it before:
I was planning on using spent tyres as I heard that you can't use them again after riding at Wangas. Anyone else experience this?
Also, is a steering damper really necessary? I haven't needed one at Taupo or Manfeild but it has been pointed out to me that I should get one for the street.
Anyone got a spare one...![]()

Use the best tyres you've got - The last time I tried to economize on tyres I landed on my head !
I did the Tri-series last year on the Hornet and I didn't think Wanganui was harder on tyres than anywhere else (but I was only lapping in the 57-58-59 second bracket) I used the same tyres for the whole series (plus Greymouth)
Some of the faster folk might have a different story![]()

It's mean, you'll love it!!
I didn't find that it stuffed tyres in any special way...maybe top boys have an issue but at my pace, it was fine.
On my old CBR I had never felt that I needed a damper until I rode at Wanga's. It was ok at the start of the day, but once I started getting to 54s flat I found myself backing off in places 'cos the shakes were getting pretty violent with haybales fast approaching at the end of a straight!
Certainly doable without one, but having to back off sucks!
...
Sweet.. its finally going to happen, i was at Wanganui a couple of years ago and decided then that i wanted to race this circuit as a swinger in a side car.
Ill be doing F1 and F2 on my R6 this year as well as Paeroa.
I seriously want to try swinging, so if there are any vacancies or opportunities to try out ill travel where ever when ever for the chance![]()
