Suzuki NZ250 - Spark plug wire/module anyone?

I have discovered a major oversight with my Suzuki NZ250:
One of the previous owners replaced the spark plug wire with an aftermarket,
and now the rubber seal that is supposed to seal off the plug from water,
no longer fits.

The previous owner mentioned having to dry it out after riding in heavy rains,
but I'm coming to realize more and more that he either never rode the bike,
or was pretty dense and didn't pay much attention.

Now, I've searched TradeMe to no avail,
so I'm wondering if anyone knows of somewhere I can source a factory plug wire/module.
Am I correct in presuming they are pretty easy to replace?

Also, does anyone know how to remove the dang spark plug?
It's recessed so deeply into the casing that the spark plug spanners I've tried have all been too shallow.

You'll be needing a spark plug socket, the right length extension, and a ratchet.
Although if there has been a significant amount of water down the spark plug recess, beware: corrosion may have set in which may make the spark plug difficult to remove.
My advice would be to get someone who's handy with the tools to give you some help.
The last thing you want to do is wind the thread out of the head when you remove the spark plug!

Ahh, I guess that makes a lot more sense than using a far too shallow plug spanner by itself.

Now I just need to find a stock plug wire/module assembly,
so that I can put an end to these water nightmares once and for all.

Sooooo frustrating.

Maybe try a motorcycle wrecker.

Or else do an advanced search on KB for NZ250 owners and see if anyone has a spare.

You could see if you can find a car spark plug lead that would do the trick, but that could be like finding a needle in a haystack...

Considering water has gotten into the spark plug area a few times since I've had the bike,
is it probably a good idea to replace the spark plug,
or is it only the gap side that needs to be in tip-top shape?

Are there any particular spark plugs that are better than others?

look for a manuel for your bike and get the required plug number
stick with ngk m8 try and find a decent spark plug cap
buy yourself a socket tool its a handy thing to have

Well I bought a pair of spark plug sockets off TradeMe,
and it's looking like neither is the correct size,
or I'm an idiot and don't know how to fit it over the spark plug.

One is too big to even fit into the area,
and the other (5/8) fits in but doesn't seem to go all the way down.

I can't believe how stupidly Suzuki designed the spark plug location,
as I can't even go at it straight down due to the big module thing of the spark plug wire,
and I can't remove that because some previous owner stripped the screws.

I can't even find what the stupid size of spark plug is supposed to be,
as all the searching I do brings me back to the same threads on here.

Really frustrating.

I tried again, and it definitely needs the bigger socket (13/16 or 21mm),
but the diameter of the socket is practically identical to the diameter of the spark plug well,
and there's a tiny tiny ridge inside that prevents it from fitting all the way in.

I think I'm going to make another thread to see if there are any mobile mechanic types in Christchurch
who I can pay to come take a look.
