    Roster Changes

    I work full time.

I get my managers roster a month in advance. The store then does a weekly roster for all the crew that are on a permanent part time basis (Im not one of the people on a permanent part time basis).

Due to an oversight I havnt been rostered a shift on the coming Tuesday. I mentioned it to the boss today and she suggested I take a day in lieu because she doesnt want to add another 9 hours labour (we have very tight labour goals in the store). I declined this as I would rather save my DIL for an actual holiday.

I know that they cant force me to take DIL unless they give me 14 days notice (I dont want to mention this to the boss right away as I dont think she knows and I want to save them).

What it comes down to is can the boss cut my shifts from 5 to 4 with a weeks notice (with me taking a cut in pay for this week)?

If not can you please point me to the relevant employment law. Ive searched but I cant find the exact part that I can print out and go to the boss "FFFFFFFUUUUUU"

The crew are on a different contract. They are permanent part time. I have to give a months notice if I wanna quit (hardly part time).

Ya might wanna edit ya first post to reflect the posts further down.

Once ya have dig out your contract and have a read.
Then if contract says you are right that you are to be rostered 40hrs a week then you need to seriously weigh up the concequences of standing your ground.
As in the politics of the situation.
Before puffing ya chest up just remember winning the battle might mean you loose the war. Then again you might find that a manager with "balls" will be more respected in future.

I'll edit my post in a minute.

They know I tell people how it is. Hell I had a go at my 2IC infront of everyone the other day for threatening to slash the hours of an employee infront of everyone else (she was almost crying).

I dont put up with crap like that and I dont like them dicking with my roster at short notice.

+1. The answers to this are mostly likely to be in your employment contract.

Has your employer been good to you? If so, you might want to extend some flexibility back.

There's probably a Wiki somewhere too.
